saccharomycetes, n. pl.
  (ˌsækərəʊmaɪˈsiːtiːz, -ts)
  [mod.L., f. generic name saccharomyces (J. Meyen 1838, in Archiv für Naturgeschichte IV. ii. 100) + mycetes.]
  A group name for yeasts, esp. those now included in the family Saccharomycetaceæ.
