  A barbiturate drug, C11H18N2O3 , with hypnotic and sedative properties, usu. given in tablet form (freq. as the faster-acting sodium salt); 5-ethyl-5-isopentylbarbituric acid. So amylobarbitone sodium. Cf. *amobarbital n.
