In tartramic acid, C4H7NO5, an amidated derivative of tartaric acid. Its salts are ˈtartramates. Also tartramic ether, a name of ethylic tartramate, obtained by the action of alcoholic ammonia on tartaric ether; also called tartraˈmethane.
