  Derived from Equisetum. equisetic acid, obtained from Equisetum fluviatile, is now known to be identical with aconitic acid.

These acids have been distinguished by the names of equisetic or maleic, and fumaric or paramaleic acid. 1876 Harley in Royle's Mat.
