Intro to the Pythagorean theorem (video) - Khan Academy
The Pythagorean theorem is a cornerstone of math that helps us find the missing side length of a right triangle. In a right triangle with sides A, B, and hypotenuse C, the theorem states that A² + B² = C² . The hypotenuse is the longest side, opposite the right angle. Created by Sal Khan.

Pythagorean theorem proof using similarity - Khan Academy
JohnWmAustin. 9 years ago. The Pythagorean Theorem is just a special case of another deeper theorem from Trigonometry called the Law of Cosines. c^2 = a^2 + b^2 -2*a*b*cos (C) where C is the angle opposite to the long side 'c'. When C = pi/2 (or 90 degrees if you insist) cos (90) = 0 and the term containing the cosine vanishes.
