1943 Chem. Abstr. XXXVII. 5711 Lichenin is found in the lichen Cetraria; pustulin in Umbilicaria. 1954 Acta Chemica Scandinavica VIII. 985 Drake called the polysaccharide pustulin, but following the suggestion of Whistler and Smart, the name pustulan is adopted.
