  Thudichum's term for a substance obtained from brain matter. Now usu. spelt cephalin (see cephalin2). So kephaˈloidin.

1878 Kingzett Anim. Chem. 290 Kephaline may be purified to some extent by its repeated solution in ether. Ibid. 294 To that furnished by ‘buttery matter’ Thudichum gives the name kephaloidine.
