A tertiary amine C9H7N (belonging to the series CnH2n-11N), an oily fluid, obtained by the distillation of quinine or cinchonine with potassium hydroxide; and also by the dry distillation of coal. chinoline-blue, a fine blue colour produced by dissolving in alcohol the black resinous precipitate obtained from a mixture of chinoline oil, iodide of amyl, and caustic soda.
