[ME. a. OF. destrobler, -troubler, f. des-, L. dis- + trobler, troubler to trouble. An etymologically earlier OF. form of the latter was torbler, turbler, tourbler (:—L. *turbulāre), whence the earlier ME. type desturble, -tourble, disturble. Trouble had become at an early date the prevalent form of the simple vb., and distrouble gradually superseded disturble, but itself scarcely survived to 1600. Sc. distrybul, distribulance, etc., were app. associated with L. tribulāre to afflict, oppress.]
