opisthocœlous, a. Comp. Anat.

  [f. opistho- + Gr. κοῖλ-ος hollow + -ous.]
  Hollow behind; applied to vertebræ the bodies of which are concave posteriorly: distinguished from procœlous and amphicœlous.
