Bennettites Palæobot.

  [mod.L., f. surname of John Joseph Bennett (1801–1876), English botanist, + -ites (see -ite1).]
  A genus of gymnospermous fossil plants having seeds borne on long stalks.

XX. 546/1 The best preserved specimens of the true Bennettites type..are from the Lower Greensand and Wealden of England, and from Upper Mesozoic strata in North America, Italy and France.
