1895 Syd. Soc. Lex., Pneumectomy (for pneumonectomy, from Gr. πνεύµων, a lung..), term for excision of part of the lung, an operation which has occasionally been tried in some forms of Phthisis. 1911 Practitioner Nov. 682 Incision and drainage of a pulmonary cavity was the first operation practised for pulmonary tuberculosis, and..it has been performed much more frequently than pneumectomy. 1932 [see lobectomy]. |
