1959 Archit. Rev. CXXV. 232/2 Paolo Portoghesi seems to have been the first to call the style of the Retreat by the apt term ‘Neoliberty’ as late as the end of 1958. 1961 Listener 16 Feb. 300/1 There is Neo-Liberty in Italy, there is quite a lot of Neo-Gaud{iacu}, and there is Neo-Expressionism.
