| 1893 A. Geikie Text Bk. Geol. (ed. 3) ii. vii. 168 Under the name of Tholeite some interesting augite-andesites have been described, in which the felspar prisms form a network filled in with granular augite and interstitial matter (intersertal structure). 1916 A. Johannsen tr. Weinschenk's Fund. Princ. Petrol. x. 199 Among the basic melaphyres there occurs a texture analogous to the ophitic, namely the intersertal. 1962 Read & Watson Introd. Geol. vii. 412 Pyroxenes often include both augite and pigeonite; they occupy the spaces between the feldspars and are sometimes granular giving the intersertal texture. 1972 Science 2 June 977/1 Sample 14310 is an intersertal plagioclase-rich basalt. |
