1892 Syd. Soc. Lex., Œcoid, Brücke's term for the substance, or stroma, of a red blood-corpuscle which is charged with or contains the coloured matter and the nucleus, where there is one, together called the zooid. Also, the same as the spongioplasm of an amœboid cell.
