  The name of a town near Perpignan in southern France, used attrib. and absol. of a sweet wine produced there.

1824 A. Henderson Hist. Anc. & Mod. Wines ii. ii. 178 At Salces..a white wine is grown, which..is thought to resemble Tokay; but, in point of richness, it is inferior to the Rivesaltes. 1836 C.
