    [ad. mod.L. mālār-is, f. L. māla jaw, cheek bone, cheek, prob. related to the synonym maxilla as āla (:—*ak-slā) to axilla. Cf. F. malaire.]
    A. adj. Of or belonging to the cheek. malar bone, the cheek bone.
