repr. L. -factiōnēm, forming nouns of action related to vbs. in -fy; properly used only where -fy represents L. -facĕre, Fr. faire, as in satisfaction; but through confusion occasionally used (instead of -fication) where -fy represents L. -ficāre, Fr. -fier, as in petrifaction.
