  [f. the Fr. place-name Levallois in north central France, NW. of Paris.]
  Used attrib. as a term for one of the main palæolithic cultures, post-Acheulian and pre-Mousterian. Hence Levalloisean (-ˈwɑːzɪən), -ian adjs. Also Levalloisoid (-ˈwɑːzɔɪd) a., related to, or similar to, this culture. Also in Comb., as Levalloiso-Mouˈsterian a.
