Annulosa, n. pl. Zool.
  (ænjuːˈləʊsə)
  [mod.L. adj. pl. neut. (sc. animālia): see annulose.]
  The annulose animals, one of Prof. Huxley's primary groups, containing such as crustaceans, insects, and worms, which have a more or less firm external skeleton, composed of a series of rings. They comprehend the higher Articulata of earlier zoologists.

1855 H. Spencer Psych. I. i. i. 3 The Sub-kingdom Annulosa shows us an immense difference between the slow crawling of worms and quick flight of insects.
