[a. Gr. περιήγησις, lit. the action of leading about as a guide, f. περί around + ἥγησις leading; hence, a description such as that given by a guide.]
A description of a place or region. (In quot. 1820, A journey or progress about, a tour.) So periegetic (ˌpɛrɪiːˈdʒɛtɪk) a. [ad. Gr. περιηγητικός befitting a περιηγητής or guide, descriptive], giving a description of a place or of objects of interest.
