[f. L. parv-us small, little + -oline, after quinoline.]
A ptomaine C9H13N, = C5H2N(CH3)2(C2H5) dimethylethylpyridine, obtained as an oily liquid with a disagreeable odour, from decaying mackerel and horse flesh, and also from certain shales and bituminous coals.
