Harris

The name of the southern section of the island of Lewis with Harris in the Outer Hebrides, used (chiefly attrib.) to designate the hand-woven tweed produced by the inhabitants of this region. Also ellipt. (Harris is a proprietary term in relation to tweed manufactured in the island of Lewis with Harris.)
