  A co-ordination compound formed from ammonia and a metallic compound.

1897 Jrnl. Chem. Soc. LXXII. ii. 263 The ammonia group is designated by the word ammine to distinguish it from the amine of organic compounds. 1927 N. V. Sidgwick Electr. Theory vii. 111 Platinous chlorine gives a similar series of ammines.
