  A hydrated basic phosphate of calcium and ferric iron, Ca4Fe3+2(PO4)4(OH)3H2O, occurring as yellow translucent triclinic crystals that are soft and have a waxy appearance.

CXVIII. ii. 698 Xanthoxenite, a new species from Rabenstein, occurring as small, wax⁓yellow, monoclinic crystals,..intimately associated with dufrenite and cacoxenite. 1949 Amer. Mineralogist XXXIV. 698 Xanthoxenite occurs abundantly although inconspicuously at the Palermo mine as one of the last formed of the hydrothermal reworked products of triphylite. 1978 Mineral. Mag. XLII. 309/1 Xanthoxenite of Laubmann and Steinmetz (1920) is probably stewartite (in part)... The xanthoxenite of Frondel (1949) is proposed as the species type. It is triclinic.
