1953 K. Meyer et al. in Jrnl. Biol. Chem. CCV. 611 A polymer composed of N-acetylglucosamine, galactose, and sulfate in equimolar portions.., a novel type of sulfated mucopolysaccharide, we propose to name keratosulfate. 1960 G. K. Smelser in Duke-Elder & Perkins Transparency of Cornea 33 Loss of metachromatic staining, following digestion of the sections with testicular hyaluronidase, suggests that keratosulphate appears late in development. 1972 Jrnl. Pediatrics LXXXI. 108/2 Keratosulfate was clearly visible on the chromatograms [of the urine] of three patients with Morquio's disease, whereas none of the normal subjects or patients with other mucopolysaccharidoses tested had any visible keratosulfate.
