[f. desma + chyme (Gr. χυµός animal or vegetable juice, χύµα(τ- liquid).]
A suggested name (now abandoned) for the connective tissue of sponges, formed of desmacytes. Hence desmachymatous (-ˈkɪmətəs) a., of, pertaining to, or of the nature of desmachyme.
