The Boer War (1899-1902) was a conflict between the British Empire and the two independent Boer republics of the South African Republic (Transvaal) and the Orange Free State. The war was the result of tensions between the British and the Boers over control of the region and came after the failed Jameson Raid into the Transvaal.
