hey guys do it on a dime here so in this video I want to share with you tips and tricks for organizing kids artwork memories and memorabilia what actually inspired making this video was going through all of my memorabilia from when I was a kid and it was so overwhelming honestly half the stuff I didn't even know why I had I am not even going to say what this looks like it's an ode to Napoleon Dynamite isn't this what they say is wrong with Millennials it took me a lot of sorting but at the end of the day I ended up with consolidated box of everything from birth all the way through high school and I know this is a system I want to implement with Carson too so I hope you find it helpful when it comes to kids stuff in memorabilia it can be really tough to part with those things I can definitely relate I'm super sentimental person to questions I found really helpful are why and who why am i keeping this item the end goal shouldn't be that you feel bad throwing it away memorabilia shouldn't be a catalog of everything you've ever done it's a highlight reel that captures the best moments that brought you to where you are today because I just lived through this so many items make nothing feel special if everything is special then nothing really stands out so that's special see you yeah yeah that one isn't as special as other ones I try to an 8 the next question is to who are you saving this for I didn't want a million boxes cluttering my house of my old stuff I know my kids aren't going to want that so going through my stuff I purged so many items and distilled it down to the things that I love and really represent myself growing up I want the containers I use down below you want to make sure they're waterproof clear and you need some hanging files or manila folders but I did this with my stuff I organized it by here but I actually think it's better to organize it by school year in each of the hanging files I'm just saving a few things from that here that a representative of everything that he did and if you're one of those people who's like me and you want to have a list or an idea of what to keep this is the stuff that's worked well for us for each school year save a couple of art pieces depending on your kids age a couple of writing samples special Awards a fun memory and your child's end of your report card it it's a great snapshot of the year and it's something that you or your kids will actually be realistically able to look back on if you want to feel super pinterest e as your child's first day of school picture to the front of the folder I think it makes the fun touch in addition to the hanging files each of my boys are going to have one memory box which is exactly what I have which refers those larger items that don't fit at hanging files I've got lots of cassette tapes in mine and super angsty teenage journals but it allows you to keep some of those extra things but limit the space in which you do it I hope that this video inspires you to create a memory box for yourself or even your kids stuff a contained place so you can actually enjoy the memories that you want to keep I will catch you guys in the next video be sure to subscribe so I can see you there god bless you guys bye hot stuff from teen magazines these totally back in style big clunky shoes clothes that are now back in style and got milk ads and how can you go wrong with butterfly clips
