Please explain how to use and tighten a retractable clothesline

hi guys i want to show you an alternative to using your clothes dryer it's called line drying i know this is not a new thing you've heard of this you've seen it you maybe have been doing that already however it is the middle of winter right now and i want to show you how you can line dry your clothes indoors one of those ways is by buying one of those racks that you can set up in your house and lay clothes over top of that those can take up some space obviously you can also hang some clothes on hangers and that works to an extent depending on how much space you have to do that another alternative is this right here this is an indoor clothesline and it's retractable and i picked this up at the grocery store at a meijer store it was on clearance i don't know if they regularly sell these things or not that's just where i happen to find it and as you can see it has a bracket here that you um attach to the wall i recommend putting this on something sturdy this is put right into the trim which is very well attached and i don't think it's going anywhere but it hooks right up here and this is where the line pulls out and it's spring-loaded so it retracts when you let go of it i don't recommend letting go of it when other people are standing around they'll get whipped by it but this is how it works basically you pull the line out and you bring it to wherever you want to string the line up to this is just a decorative or decorative plant that i have on the wall and hidden inside of there is the hook that i hook this line to see it's got a little loop there on the end plastic loop so that hooks right to that hook on the wall like that and there you go we have a closed line that strings all the way through our house you have to come back to the main unit here and i'll show you why if you look over here at the base there's this circle it's like a disc right here what you have to do is pull out a little bit extra of this line and wrap it around this is hard to do with one hand obviously there string it around that loop at least a full time around like that and that is going to lock the line in place so that when you pull on it it's not going to keep pulling out of the reel so see it is a kind of a stretchy line so you can pull it tighter i could do that if i had both hands i'm not holding a camera but you get the idea and there you go you have an indoor clothesline that you can use it's very important to anchor both ends with a stud in the wall or something very solid like this trim is very solidly put on here and the hook on the other end is hooked right into a stud right through the wall so when you load this up with towels and clothes and stuff it's not gonna pull out of your wall and ruin things but there you go that's a simple idea that um was pretty inexpensive i think i got this for probably i don't know maybe ten dollars or something on clearance so even if you hang the clothes up and you leave them on there for a while until they're halfway dry and then put them into the dryer you're gonna still save energy because you're using the dryer less to get them dry so something to think about all right so um go and try this if you can't find this retractable reel in your store um try to rig something else up some hooks some rope some kind of um line or something i'm sure it can be done several different ways so if you try something like this um tell me about it show me a video or some pictures send me an email or something so i can see what you're doing too or share your ideas here it's always good to share ideas with other people and spread the word so all right that's it for now and i'll see you later bye you
