welcome back to the so log I'm Angela wolf and we are going to be making this dress the first step before we get started is you hopefully have already added your interfacing and I'm going to work on the front placket here we're going to sew up the front placket and then we're going to sew the shoulder seams so here's a little trick I have I've already pressed this once and on your pattern there's usually notches that tell you where the center front is so I've already folded here at the center front and I use this ruler because it will reach to the top notch all the way almost to the bottom but you can see that's the bottom notch and then I'm just gonna give myself a chalk line which you probably already saw that I had all I'm doing that for is because once I've already pressed this there's my interfacing notice it comes out just a little bit into the front of the shirt I'm going to fold this and now I'm gonna go ahead and fold this again and give it a good pressing I use my tailors clapper to make sure that I have a really nice crisp crease and hopefully the interfacing you're using is not too thick remember the list was on the website and you can go there and download for everything that we're using for this so long because if it's too thick you're gonna have you got three layers of denim right here and I'm just gonna go down one more little section here I'm using just a little bit of steam that's the trick a little bit of steam well The Clapper in place and we have a nice crisp crease so the next step I'm going to do is to top stitch this and I'm just gonna bring you to this piece here there's top stitching right along the edge that's about an eighth of an inch in and then we're gonna do one more row so you can see it just in captures that whole placket there the key is you're going to top stitch from the right side of the fabric so let's get started over here on the sewing machine you want to check your stitch for what's a good looking top stitching but I'm gonna change it to a 3.0 a 3.5 or a 4.0 also looks good I'm just gonna put my foot down the other thing that I have here is I'm just gonna line up there's no need to back stitch at the beginning and I'm lining up the fold right on you can see inside your foot now you might not be able to see it from there but it's just inside that foot and what I'm lining up my eye is right here and that foot to make sure you have a nice straight stitch go ahead stitch to the bottom I'm allowing the feed dogs to do their job now this part really isn't too difficult but I know there's gonna be a tendency to flip this over and Stitch that flap on from the wrong side to make sure that you have that but that's not such a good idea that looks really nice now you can see that fold I'm gonna put my needle down right words on the edge of that fold and now my eye is gonna focus wherever this fold is here on something on the plate if your machine doesn't have that use a sticker that will help you to keep your guide so again I'm not watching over here I'm watching over here and we're gonna stitch one more all the way down I'm just making sure all the fabrics laying nice and flat and you're gonna do this to both front pieces before we go any further get all the way to the end okay so the next step is going to be to show sew together the shoulder seams so we'll go back to the sewing machine and you can either leave it on your 3.0 stitch or change it to a 2.5 whatever you prefer I'm gonna go back to a 2.5 it's just a little sturdier and whatever your steam allowance is for your pattern I believe for this pattern it's 5/8 of an inch but I know quite a few of them might be 1/2 of an inch and you're gonna sew together the other shoulder but here's one thing run this through the serger and press it to the back and once it's pressed to the back I'm just gonna show you real quick here you want to do one more top stitching so I'm just gonna run it just a little bit and you can see just run one or two rows of top stitching whatever you prefer for your design and you're gonna do that for both shoulders and then the next step we're gonna sew together the collar
