hi I'm ash tonight I'm going to show you how to polish out rest things from high carbon steel or Damascus steel things that I'm going to use needle as one of my swords them as an example partly because I'm a bit of an idiot I got needle thinking it was a stainless steel sword and it turns out it's actually turned 10.6 high carbon steel and ended up with load of rust patches on it I've just done one side them and you can see if you get a close-up on that it does come out really quite nice you can get quite a nice finish on there important thing to remember it's not absolutely perfect you will get some of the more embedded stuff in there that's a bit hard to gather you'll see that mr. Spock just over there but it does come out nice I'm going to do is going to show you how to get those out you'll sit on the other side I've got quite a nasty spot on there I'm going to get that out so what you need first of all is a cleaning cloth cotton ideally and you'll want something called metal glow you can get it usually search it from the states and there are companies in the UK who will do it as well there's not typically expensive to get hold of but what you want is a small amount on the cloth you want to apply it to the area that you need and circular motions with a reasonable amount of pressure and just keep polishing like so feel free to use more if you feel you need more don't smear loads on some more of it you have on leather more of it you've got a buff out afterwards okay the light from the camera is making it difficult to see what where I am of that so small amounts of pressure on that incidentally methyl grow will also protect the sword as well but for more long-term use I would them in terms of long-term prevention you're better off using something called Renaissance marks which when I get Damascus ice out in a bit to do that I'll do another video on that okay it's difficult to see how much got done up on there actually it's still a little bit more again small amounts pressure and probably applies a little bit more what I like doing as well is cleaning the whole thing off and then reviewing see I've still got a little bit more to do apply a little bit more metal as well there we go and then circular motions reasonable about mouth pressure on that doing this video because there's a lot of people the one lap for the pillion Steel's website and and whatnot Lou say how do I get these rough spots out what's the best stuff to use what I'm doing isn't working how do you do it and things like that and honestly this works it just does so this is how you do it basically okay so that seems I've got the vast majority out let's wipe again and review it it's a little bit more but you should be able to see it is coming off it's just a case of keep at it until the vast majority is gone it was quite a big brush spots and as I said it doesn't it's not perfect it won't get it it won't restore it to factory fresh but if you maintain your swords regularly it shouldn't be a problem of course me I didn't realize until it was too late so I've got the worst of it out but it might just leave a scar or something no actually I think me I don't know if we've got enough video length for me to show you the finished product I might do photos afterwards but yeah patience bit of elbow grease some metal glue right I'll speed things along once it's done you want to go off with a buffing cloth but the whole thing off and polish it off and just say that you get the nice effect as we got before one there look let's the cats writing don't mind man okay that does appear to go on might keep some of it off that's cool okay so you can see there is still a little bit there I will work on that as well but you can see it has taken the vast majority off I will get that punished as well but that is how to remove rust and thank you for watching
