Please explain how to clean those scratchy controls or potentiometer's on your vintage stereos/radios

today I'm going to show you how to clean those scratchy potentiometers or controls on your vintage stereo equipment or radios you're going to need a can of contact cleaner here's my can of contact cleaner it's called QD electronic cleaner and it came with one of those little red nozzles which you need for getting in small crevices and I purchased this can at the Home Depot and of course here's your potentiometers it could be volume balance or tone with the knobs on and then you need to take the unit apart and this is what the potentiometers look like when the units apart here's one of them and here's another one of them you see the knobs and the potentiometer line up together and here's your potentiometer and there's these little square openings or notches on them and there's where my that's where my pen is you see that opening right there or my pen is see that square opening and you take your aerosol can of contact cleaner with the nozzle and you take that little nozzle and you shove it inside that opening knotch which I was telling you about right there and you give your can your your aerosol can a couple spurts then you take your potentiometer knob and move it back and forth to clean it up from minimum to max min um um - max minimum - max just do it a hundred times until your fingers get tired or your hands get tired then you are reassemble the unit wait an hour then plug it in and retry it and if your potentiometer is not scratchy your your units fixed and that concludes this video and I hope you enjoyed it bye
