hey guys today we're gonna teach how to make a waving flag animation in blender alright so you've got your stage here you want to first create the cylinder which is going to be the flagpole okay so much stands on the z-axis there we go lovely now we're gonna add that flag which is gonna be a plane and we are gonna rotate this plane on y-axis you don't go straight as you can't an edge attenders to 90 actually straight up now you want to bring it up and in line with the flag pole okay okay it's in line now now we're going to stretch out the flag to proper size they should do there we go now we have our flag so here we are guys that was the end of the tutorial we have our flag here I'm joking okay so we need to make the flag move not to do this we need to first add some things here so you bring this out go up here go to edit mode and then select subdivide number of cuts make that all the way up to ten now you get a bris a ton selector and beat each box selects you're gonna choose the top two and the bottom two boxes and drag them out a tiny little bit now with these still selected you're gonna go to this triangle thing here and choose vertex group and add a vertex group and assign it to this one now you can go back into object mode and move your thing in here what I like to is leave a little gap so the actual it looks like it's connected here and here so actually looks like a proper flag okay know what you want to do now is go to the physics and choose a cloth now what this will do right now I will just flop all the way down like so now to attach this you need to click pinning and choose the group now what it should do is you just flop down now as you can see it's a bit pixelated now let's get rid of this what you have to do is select them here go up and choose shading smooth now when we play it the shading will be smooth now you can see alright so now we want an actual wind to make it moving so to add this add forcefield wind now that add it down here and the wind actually shows up with a little little orange arrow here to direct where the wind is actually going so let me move this here and rotate it on x-axis paint the point in this way sorry now at the moment this is going to look the strap for this is gonna be really bad so we need to extend this all the way out just to test this how well this works okay so yeah you can see this works it's flying quite well so yeah we've actually done it so it pretty much just flows if we bring it back you can see more detail okay so yeah it starts flowing now it's pretty looks a bit it looks a bit boring at the moment because it's gray so it's pretty boring now we're gonna go to have to put texture on it so I'm gonna click on the flag and click on this icon here new and leave this zero specular tell you where that is in a moment okay so now you goes a texture icon new texture change it from clouds to image or movie open the block this out because I don't really want you to see you I've got and you wanna go to your desktop or what were actually first of all you needs actually download a black image now the image is gotta be flat it's not wavy it's not gonna have no shadows on it anything like that so I've got one here so that's pretty cool now to actually see this on here you're gonna click here a texture that's gonna look like this you're gonna press n on the keyboard and then scroll down I always lose this always lose this display shading GL SL there we go and then we see it now we'll click play oh that's backwards click play we can see the Nottingham flag or whatever flag flowin now this could be used in games and such like quest games outside of houses it could be pretty much anything to be honest because it looks awesome we have to do is to pretty much just color this in we're going to move the camera just for a good effect or just delete that and then make one let's make one let's put it oh we're just making of on camera now let's bring this up a bit and now we can rotate this easily okay and let's move this back a bit see what this looks like there we go surrender surrender it where it's like just flowing okay so here we can render this I will see that it's actually flowing and it looks pretty smooth so that was pretty much that tutorial guys how to make a moving flag in blender alright I'll see you in the next one
