I'm gonna show you how to clean and maintain your barbecue and these are some of the tools we'll need with a large plastic bin got some barbecue wipes some scrubbing brushes some dishwashing liquid paper towels fat absorber some canola spray drip trays and some gloves for the hot water everyone loves a good Barbie and when you get a new one it's really important to make sure that you season they're hot plates you need to give them a really good wash and hot soapy water to wash off any of the chemicals and residue that may be on there from the shipping it's important that before you use your barbecue that you turn your burners on to medium and leave it for about half an hour with the lid down that will give it a good protective coating the other thing that you might need to do is put some fat absorber or maybe some Elementium foil in the bottom of the drip tray to make sure that it lasts longer and doesn't rust so that's how you season and prepare a new barbecue but now I'm going to show you how to clean one that's much-loved you can see it's been left outside on the weather and probably a good idea would be to give it a barbecue cover that would extend the longevity of this so this fat layer is probably a great protection against rust but it's pretty disgusting so let's get this clean make sure you kick all of your gas hoses to see if there's any cracking or deterioration and before working on a barbecue make sure that the gas has turned off when turning off your barbecue it's important to turn off the gas first that allows it to burn off any gas that's coming through the burners and after each use it's a good idea to disconnect the gas bottle from the barbecue first thing I'm going to do is get rid of the excess fat and then I'm going to wash the hot plate and hot soapy water that's the dish now I'm on to the grill when cleaning the grill make sure you look at both sides to make sure that any factor that has dripped underneath is cleaned off as well before I put the grills back in I'm gonna give the barbecue body a good wash I'm using hot soapy water again and a scouring pad now that we're given the barbecue a good clean we're going to make sure that the hot plates are dry you give them a bit of a sweat with some canola oil just to protect them don't forget to do both sides of the growth we've run the drip tray with some aluminium foil and now we're gonna put some fat absorber on it don't forget to change your fat absorber every team barbecues or so and BBQ wipes they're a great way to keep your BBQ clean in between big jobs like this that's how you clean and maintain a barbecue
