hi I'm Tom and today I'm here with the Kraft sanity kindred scarf loom and I'm gonna show you how to make a scarf on it before we get started I just want to tell you there's a couple versatile points about this loom which are really cool right now I have it set up to make a narrower scarf we have the loom comes with pieces that you can swap in to make a wider scarf which is cool you can connect the ends and make an infinity scarf you can wrap around your neck a couple times and have it be connected if you're worried about it blowing in the wind if you don't want your scarf a really long scarf blowing in the wind another option here is you can move one of your own pieces to the center and just work on half the loom and make a cowl so we have a whole separate video on how to make a cowl and the weaving is the same on this loom and the cowl loom so you can watch that video if you're interested to see how to make a cowl but today we're gonna focus on scarves so we're gonna get started we're gonna use some super bulky yarn over here and we'll just get to it okay we're gonna start with tying our yarn onto the loom in the top left corner I pretty much start the weaving on every craft sanity loom the same way and instead of tying a knot I'm just going to loosen this wing nut here and then just fasten it back on so it holds the yarn in place and to warp they get the loom to work the loom we're going to just pull the yarn down from the top left corner all the way down to the bottom that first peg go around it and then just come back down here we're gonna do that for every single one as you're warping it your yarn should have quite a bit of movement to it so if it's super tight then you need to loosen that because it will be really hard to weave if you're warp yarn is on there too tight okay so you go you're gonna go around that last top peg come back down here and I will move this angle move this the way just so we can see better okay so what I'm doing here now if you're going to have a checkered one and you want to switch colors now would be the time you would cut it and you can just secure it down here on this wing nut but instead since I'm going to keep going with the red I'm just going to go around that end peg and I'm going to put this straight across the corresponding peg across the way and then what I'm gonna do to start my weaving pound pattern to get that established this is going to be a single strand for right now one in the end will come back down and we will turn it into a double strand but for right now just you're going to weave the whole way with this as a single strand and that's alright so what I'm gonna do here since this yarn is going over the single strand for the next one I'm gonna pull this loop up and over and then I'm gonna just skip one and do the same thing so what that's doing is establishing that first row weaving and I'm doing this because it's easier than weaving over-under helps establish a pattern very easily without making mistakes so we did the first row of weaving now and we're going to enter the shed stick into the weaving here and this is actually like paint stirrer so use what you have you can also use a dowel you can use old rulers whatever you want to use is but you do recommend that you use something and we do send these along with we have send either a dowel or one of these with each purchase of a craft Sandy loom so you'll get what you need to weave so that first row is done and I'm going to weave the second row and as I pick up the loops that I'm going to use to weave that second row what I'm going to do is put the shed stick in and what a shun stick does is it opens up your shed here when you weave and this space here so now every second row every well every other row I will be able to just put the yarn through without a problem and I'll show you how that works so I'm going to take this yarn go around and peg and I'll just hand it through to my other hand put the loop down and just push this in and when I'm not I can move it further away now obviously on this I don't want to do the same pattern otherwise it will not you gotta go every other under over and then over under so what I'm gonna do is go around the peg pick up the opposite loops that I wove through last time and with that shot stick in there though it makes it very clear what I'm supposed to pick up I can tell so it's it speeds things up tremendous we talked about tension and when we were warping the Loom and the thing you got to be concerned about again when you're weaving if you want your tension to be the same for every row so it will naturally kind of arc your when you pull it through it kind of arcs up a little bit and don't pull it severely like severely tight you want to make you want that arc is nice and then what I usually do is just kind of grab in the center there and then pull the edges down and again this this should remain pretty loose it should not be so stiff that it has no flexibility because weaving is gonna be really difficult if it's too tight so just try to stay relaxed and even if you're feeling a little stressed you just you know consciously make an effort to check to see how your tension is okay so what I actually like to do is weave with the loom propped up against the wall because it is it's big and it's hard to reach if I don't have a six-foot reach which most people don't so you can prop it up against the wall and weave and then you can stand up to do the remainder of it or you can put it back on the table and just slip the part that you're weaving and weave towards yourself instead of a way so do what makes you comfortable but I find that propping it up against the wall it's just an easy way to weave pretty quickly and in a way that isn't uncomfortable so after I prop the Loom up and go for a while on the wall I put it back down on the table and now instead of weaving away from me and weaving toward my body so that way it's just easier so you're not stretching or trying reach six feet because that's just not something that's humanly possible so you can move the Loom around flip it to the point where you're comfortable now I'm to the point where I've used the Shred stick it's been very helpful all the way up till this point but now it's a little bit difficult it doesn't give me a lot of room to do my weaving so I'm just gonna slide this out and just put it aside and now I'm going to just every every rows gonna be a little bit slower than it was just because I'm gonna have to pick those loops up my son the Loom is filled with all the weaving the next step is to we still have a single strand right here and you could finish it off and leave it that way I kind of like to go down and make it a double strand there too just so everything's uniform you don't have to do that skip that stuff if you like but I'm gonna go ahead and do that so what I'm gonna do is just measure all the way down the Loom here oops be careful what you're banging into I'm just gonna cut it so it's a little bit longer the length of the Loom and then I'm gonna back this back up and you can do this from either direction right now I just happen to be facing this way so not going around any pegs I'm just going to put my hook and crochet hook and pull this through and I'm gonna pull it for a little bit and then I'll pull it all the way through so I'm not pulling through a loop I'm pulling a single strand through but I'm gonna go through a few of these the weaving is done though and has it was a single strands but made into two and now what I want to do is I'm looking at the weaving and I see that it's kind of just from the weaving as you weave the edges get kind of pushed in a little bit the edge rows so what I'm gonna do is kind of come in here and just with my fingers just kind of push it push the first that first long row toward the pegs a little bit and then just kind of grab the second one you can use your crochet hook to do this as well now you can even things up after you get the scarf off the loom that's totally doable I just find that it's a little bit easier to to move all this yarn very quickly and easily without having it off the loom it because you have it under tension you can still move things around pretty pretty quickly so that's what I try to do now I'm ready to take the scarf off the loom so the way that I'm going to do that is I'm going to start here in the bottom corner where I just completed weaving in that end and I'm going to start in the very next loop there and I'm going to take the first one off then I'm going to grab the next loop I'm gonna pull one through the other grab one so I'm gonna grab one off the peg pull it through and just continue that repetitive process all the way around so I'm approaching the spot where I had this connected wrapped around the wingnut I just untied that and I'm going to pick up this loop pull it through and then this end I like to kind of take that up in my finishing and so what I do is I pull up a loop there pull it through and then go to the next one and pull the loop through and now it's just kind of like anchored in and I'm gonna weave that end in a second but that's just one way to secure it if you're not comfortable doing that you can skip it completely and just weave it in I just do this for a little extra secure okay so I'm nearing the end here the banking off crosses here we're just gonna catch all these and once you have all your loops loop together around the edge you're left with this tail and so what I normally do is just kind of go for you know act like I'm just crocheting and go under pull a loop through and just pull it through again here and then if I want to round out the corner well really I'll the only thing you need to do is fill let's pull it through call it good and then you have your end to weave in and what you can do is just kind of weave it in right along this edge and you typically follow the weaving pattern just because it's the easiest thing to do so you just put the crochet hook in grab the yarn pull it through and when you do that you want to make sure you're stretching this out so you don't have it pulled severely tight and I'll probably just go to this edge and then clip it we have one more end to do that too so the ends are woven in and scarf is off the loom and you're right Iraq you
