hello i'm diaper dad and i'm going to show you how to wash a pre-fold diaper this is our setup you see we have the sink we have a towel to put the baby on when we wash the bottom with our hand we don't use wipes we have a toilet and over here we have our home depot bucket with a locking lid to prevent any animals or toddlers from falling in and that we have our bucket full of water with baking soda and then we have an extra bucket here just for transporting things around the house to and from the washer machine you can see gloves that my wife uses i don't use gloves and then under the sink we keep our baking soda and measuring cup okay so we're going to start here we have our home depot bucket with the locking screwing lid and our baking soda bath half cup baking soda filled with water okay here's the diapers that are left from the night before you can see the the breastfed style poop with the yellow a little bit of green a little bit of brown probably depends on what you eat as you can see i just put the diaper right into the toilet using my hands i don't use gloves but you can if you want really it's not a big deal dogs and cats drink on the toilet all the time our skin is an excellent barrier of protection against bacteria just wash your hands when you're done i just quickly get the main bulk off and then i squeeze it out now you'll see some other videos on youtube where they do two washes in the washing machine one of the benefits of soaking it in this toilet is you don't have to do the cold wash before you do the warm wash so you can just do this once get into your bucket let me see now i got most of it off and then it goes in the baking soda bath sits there and i'm just going to keep doing this until i'm done with the diapers that were from last night then afterwards well we're on the wash all right so we've we've pre-done the wash and now i'm just going to transfer the bucket to my transfer pail bring the stuff out of the baking soda bath it's been sitting there since yesterday when we did this we do the wash once a day as you can see we have one of our diaper covers in here we don't soak the diaper covers based on the manufacturer's recommendation for these plastic eversion diaper covers now this is the wet as i said earlier the wet pail method really no smells at all with this method the baking soda is an odor odor trapper plus it also helps those things i just dump out the baking soda bath and fill some more baking soda about half a cup with a bucket and for the time's able to stop there and we're off to the the washing machine hi we're at the washing machine now and i'll show you my setup here we have a sink washer because our apartment doesn't have a washer and dryer in unit so we have this i believe it's called a higher sink washer just sort of hook up the the drain hose here you can buy it on home depot online pick up the drain hose we use a rubber band to keep it in place and then we we jury rigged our setup so we went instead of usually you screw on here on the sink usually it would screw on here but since we want to be able to use our sink while we're doing our wash we have a conversion underneath the sink might be difficult to see with the lighting it goes from sink thread to hose thread to pipe thread and then we have a t piece with an on off for hot and cold you just adjust the temperature in this situation we're just going to be using hot so then we turn it on change the water level close start we add detergent we use just draft based on my wife's recommendations you can use the fancy stuff if you want you can use the free and clear for pre-fold diapers that are heavy duty it really doesn't matter what you use then we'll let that fill up a little bit and then we'll just throw the diapers in and let the wash go and then we hang dry so that's our video hope it helped you with pre-fold diapers washing with a sink washer using the wet pail method for soaking you know when you're doing this you can throw in your your dish towels and you know i used to hate the thought of having a washer in the in the kitchen but this has really been a lifesaver you
