hello I'm Janelle Shella and this is the fourteenth of my introductory videos to crystal healing just a word or two and looking after your crystals most of your crystals will be absolutely fine being washed with a little bit of washing-up liquid tepid water not too hot not very much washing up liquid but it will get the oils off from your hands these are the courses so anything from amethyst to clear quartz to smoky quartz citrine Jasper's agates Chinese like carnelian for example they'll all be fine you don't have to worry about them on your washing them they'll be absolutely fine there are a few that you do have to be careful of these are the water-soluble crystals they include anything of the highlights for the highlights or salt crystals and you will probably know if you have a halide there it's a rather unusual one to have in your collection but people do and the other one I've actually mentioned before but it's the satin spar gypsum and the regular selenite gypsum they're both types of selenite they just formed differently to clean these you can either Hoover them or you can use a soft brush but what I tend to do is have a sponge that's been really really wrung out so now the water is going to go into the crystal at all and it just gets off that little bit of dust makes them a little bit shinier but it doesn't harm the crystal in any way you can also Hoover crystals but if you're hovering over something like a bowl of small crystals use a muslin bag this is a jam bag this is putting Jam through to make jelly and it's just very very thin nylon very fine but if you put this over the the end bit of your Hoover I don't have a Hoover to demonstrate there's not what I prepared earlier but this will help you to keep from hoovering them up the number of crystals I've actually got inside the Hoover and had to dig through the bags they are not worth mentioning so I do recommend this there are a few others like calcite now most Cal sites will be fine this is a polished orange cow site usually it's fine although sometimes it will dull down a little bit depending on how it's been polished so if you use it in water you may have problems the optical calcite that's very very clear calcite there are little fissures in it and the fissures can absorb water if it's placed into water if that happens they start to go cloudy so I recommend not using water as in dipping this straight into the water when you clear clean it but you can use something like a wrung out sponge in addition there are few other things you need to know about with crystals some of you the crystals you will find are very very sensitive to light photosensitive these include amethyst so a beautiful amethyst like this really deep in color if you left it sitting in a window that gets a lot of Sun this would eventually fade to clear you would eventually have no color in it at all seriously the other one that is reactive like that is fluorite now I'm just going to give you an example because long before I knew about this I had a fluorite Buddha that was colored as deeply as this fluorite wand I left it in a window now you see what it's done and it would go completely it's slightly green now if I left it in the window any longer it would be completely clear so very careful with your fluorides I actually keep mine all in either covered containers or under something like a scarf or a shawl because they do react so strongly to light then some of the crystals will be very soft you have different levels of hardness and softness cal sites are quite soft but they're not that bad just be a bit careful with them but something like malachite and fluorite both of these crystals are very soft and easily scratched if you carry them in a pouch with your other crystals you'll find that eventually the malachite dolls down and so does the fluorite because they've been scratched against the other ones so much same is true of turquoise and turquoise is also very sensitive to things like washing up liquid so if you have a ring of turquoise if you wear it when you're washing up you'll find the color starts to change they're also sensitive to oils so if you use hand cream same thing and just be aware of it be careful apart from that pretty much everything will be fine as long as you're very careful with the way you look after them
