Please explain how to tie the snake knot and crown knot to finish the paracord battering ram lanyard

hey it's Kevin the power cordis I want to show you how to finish the creation that I call the battering ram it's basically a monkey's fist around in a one-inch steel ball-bearing insert four strand round braid and then the attachment by a snake not to a split ring to form a keychain I will also do a future video explaining how I come out of the monkey's fist with both working ends in one location to begin the round braid okay now the first step is to tape the end of your four strand round braid so it doesn't unravel on you while you do the work now I'm going to take the split ring here and with the four strands I'm going to tie a crown knot so I've got one strand coming over this way we've got one strand coming from the bottom and going that way and I'm going to take one of the strands over and through on this side of the ring and then I am going to take this cord over here on the other side of the ring behind I'm going to go over this and through that bite so what I've done here is tied a simple crown knot on top of the four strand round braid and holding in place the K ring okay next I will be doing a what's called a snake knot I'm going to use to working strands I'm picking one on either side here and then I'm going to take the other two strands that I'm not using to do the snake knot and I'm going to tape them down to the four strand round braid and they will in essence get covered by the snake not at this point - I'm also able to remove the tape at the stuff at the top of the round braid because the crown knot will keep the braid in place okay now I'll take the working in on the right side pass it behind and over like this then I will take the working in from the left side pass it behind everything and through here tighten oops we're going to work it all tight later right from the top so we just want to get this started like that now what I'm going to do is I'm going to spin it around the left cord becomes the right right cord becomes the left and I'm going to take the cord that's on the right I'm going to bring it around the back and through this bite below the previous pass okay then I'm going to swap the work again spin it around counterclockwise switching the chords right to left left to right now again I take the chord it's on the right now I bring it around in below the previous pass and I'm going to insert it in between the two chords I see here okay this is the pattern that I will repeat and this all that it's required to make the snake not done in two colors it actually makes a pretty cool looking bracelet so here we go again swap it around take the cord on the right bring it around the back and through the bottom of the two you see on the right okay and then I'll swap it again kind of clockwise this cord around the back through here take now I'm going to do this a couple of more times and then I am just going to work it tight and symmetrical okay one more time for the camera so here it is basically worked complete and tight you can see the nice snake nut pattern both sides working in tight is very simple you basically would pull one of these pull out the slack and then you get it here and then here and then here and then here till you come out the bottom then you flip it around again you pull one slack will come out this is the one that would draw it down and then that draws it down and down and down so you keep it nice and clean lined up I've got two pairs of cords coming on each side I'm basically going to snip them about a quarter of an inch burn them together so they don't come through and that completes the item you can see here the keychain put your keys in there it also serves as a ring for your pinkie to hold it obviously giving you allowing you to retain the item if you were swinging it in self-defense the needles I use in the video are available at paracord Escom the item is called the battering ram which is also available at paracord Escom and the smaller version I call the door knocker with a three-quarter inch ball again paracord is calm thanks for watching and don't forget please subscribe you don't want to miss a future video have a great night
