all right today we're gonna take a look at how to make your own hummingbird feeder nectar I've been asked several times in the past how to make this is fairly expensive you continually buy the cream mixed up store so essentially there's three ingredients sugar food coloring probably red is the prettiest of colors for you Peter and then water the only real tool you need for material is gonna be a funnel to help you get the sugar into your container and then of course some types of empty container out all right so I'll get started now the amount sure is not really that important hummingbirds will feed on nectar solution that even has very low amounts of sugar but should have quite a substantial probably more than you were intuitively think I've made some strong mixtures that were probably close to 20 25 percent sugar but I tender make it a little bit less I don't measure any kind of eyeball it want the solution to be sweet probably already have enough in there now but this is my first batch died a little bit and also keeping alright so I shake it straight looks like my sugar level is right up to this bottom lip where I labeled it usually starts now ideally you do this inside use hot water hot water would actually dissolve a lot quicker you know what I think I'm gonna go ahead and go inside and get some hot water all right I am back with some hot water she's gonna speed up I'll pass the sugar dissolves now I'm gonna put some food color in here be careful not to get this on your fingers or hands I'm putting a bulb on my Ella we're just going to put the whole bottle I think that's a bit much but in the sunshine it's gonna happen is the Sun is gonna bleach the color out eventually birds don't drink all if you're an actor doesn't run out it will turn clear alright now we're gonna add in our hot water is all of our sugar all right now we'll shake this up a little bit resolve careful hold your thumb on the cap you can then look at the bottom I still see some of the sugar settling I don't see it sure selling anymore so all dissolves what's left now is to fill the hummingbird feeders and sit back relax - hummingbird feeders have probably seen better day they still work probably goes them down for little bit of Turkey Ron you be scrub okay they are build up with me about half the fat so I get about two fillings out of each batch that I make hope you find that helpful and kill our hummingbirds thanks for watching
