hey it's Damon from let's t keep calm today I'm going to show you how to make navy grog navy grog was invented by Don the Beachcomber who's considered by many to be the father of the tiki bar I don't like to get into those debates though I just like enjoying great tiki drinks and a great tropical setting and just feel like I'm somewhere far away for just a little bit so to start out play your glass with some ice now the variations on this recipe some call for crushed ice and others colleges for regular ice cubes I decided to crush my ice this time I don't have a fancy ice crusher though so what I do is just put some ice into my blender and just pulse it a few times works pretty good so once you have your ice go ahead and add a half ounce of light rum and then a half ounce of gold room and then you'll need 1/2 ounce of dark rum and then 1/2 ounce of Grand Marnier the grand marnier is gonna give it a great additional orange flavor to it as well alright then on to our juices we're going to need an ounce of grapefruit juice and I have mine all pre squeezed if possible use fresh squeezed juice it just makes it taste a little bit better and then an ounce of orange juice and then an ounce of pineapple juice then once you have all that combined go ahead and get your cocktail shaker and shake it up real good a little bit and then get your glass the streak is normally served in a Collins glass but today I thought it'd be fun to try out a fishbowl so there it is the Navy grog immediately when you pour this drink out you can smell all the aromas of the citrus from the orange and the grapefruit and the pineapple it really transports you to a citrus grove right away and then your first sip you can taste the orange grapefruit in the pineapple and you also get a hint of the dark rum which is not overpowering because of the other rums but it adds a nice funky flavor to the drink and then you can also taste the Grand Marnier a little bit you get that additional orange flavor and a little almost brandy flavor to it as well so there you have it the Navy grog Mahalo
