I'm going to show you how to make a reading pillow and I'm going to show I started I had to start over because I messed up so I have to redo the video so the one step that I'm going to do I will redo over with you guys but what you're going to need is you're going to need one 16 by 16 pillow you're going to need one 16 by 16 square of what your front of your pillow is going to look like 213 by 16 pieces it's going to be the back of the pillow for your pocket that you're going to embroider is 11 by 16 and if you don't want to embroider it you don't have to and your pocket lining is going to be 11 by 16 so I am going to show you how to do this first um what you're going to do is your 16 by 16 pillow piece that's going to be the front of your pillow is going to be laid out here and then what you're going to do is you're going to take your 11 by 16 in portal pocket and your 11 by 16 liner which I'll show you with this but it was going to turn out like this so what we're going to do is you're going to take those two pieces and you're going to sew them together one's going to be the front of the pillow and one is going to be the back of the pillow so we will sew these together and this is just an example to show you this one does not cut right but I'm going to show you what I did so this would be your front pocket and your lining for your pocket and then you will sew them together you're going to back stitch got one piece long another cuz this is just uh so I don't want to cut this other piece of prayer what you're going to do this is your your back and you're lining your pillow you're going to fold this over and you're going to match this up now put the measurements down below and that way you're going to have a lip on here and then what you're going to do is you're going to sew in the ditch along here which sewn in the ditch is just following this scene that's when you're done okay so now it looks like this which is this piece I sold in the seam this is the inside lining of the pocket this is the outside so now you get your top of your pillow here you're going to line up your pillow front which is your pocket you're going to line that up here then you're going to take your two pieces that are for your back here which you're going to turn around you're going to lay them out this is going to go this way so that one and let's see this one will go this way put this one on top so then now what you're going to do is you're going to take and you're going to press a half inch seam across so where these are going to make meet pinch on there and then I want to have edge on this one these are going to be the flats to open your pillow so now what you're going to do is you're going to sew along to make this off stay together you're going to sew this half inch seam on each one of these and you want to sew over far enough so that you catch this fabric and it's not all coming up on you so I got this about an inch and I'm going to back stitch and there's little marks on your side of your pressure foot that you can use as a guide and you're a beginner solar to keep your skin pretty straight and that's what I'm using as my guide and then we're going to do the same thing to this one you know we're always back set so now what you're going to do is are you have your two this is going to be the backs to your pillow you're going to lay one down these are going to be the opposite this is the pull front is face-up the pockets face up what happened to me earlier is I didn't pay attention and I had my pillow pocket the wrong way so these ones what you're going to do is this is the pillow pockets running long cross ways and this are going to be running up and down because this is going to be the opening for your pillow so you will line these up here I'm going to put this one on first because I want to my line stuff all right so this one's going to go here it doesn't matter which order but I didn't trim this off and I want to hide that so and then this is how our pillow is together so now we're going to pin all this together and then we're going to sew all the way around it so I'm going to make sure all my fabric is lined up sorry if this video is a little dark you just want to make sure it's all penned together real good they're pretty fast to make okay so now we're going to sew all the way around and when I come to the area where the pockets are right here these will part I'm going to stitch it a couple to go back and forth a couple times that way it really locks it on so when you take it off to wash this it won't be back and forth cuz I have a pocket seen and another pocket the same I just want to get headed strong I'm going to turn it you can leave it wow that stitch before I turn to I don't know why I do what I do hello same over the pillow part at MIT's always stick because it's going to be pulled on the front where kids are putting their books on it'll be tugged on so you want to make sure you really secure that I extra stitch so now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go around and really secure it is I'm going to do where they call this overcast scene is what it's called and this would be just like a finished if you have a serger you can do a serger I'm going to make the stitches kind of big just makes it so I'm gonna pull her you don't happy if you double so everyone that I always do this in this we are in your material about play when you're laundering it at sir Oh I just put it on a big stitching I got it out of five it doesn't need to be really super tight on our side we're done strings if you want you can cut the corners just a little so on you pull it you have a little crisper corner just don't cut your seams now all you do is you take this and you turn it inside out please make wonderful Christmas gifts and you could take this off and home it's better than sewing it on and then you never could take it off you can laundry that's where the kids get it messy you just launder it now we'll put the little in it which is a 16 by 16 pillow Walmart's has these four three nine three $0.59 like that 349 and then all you do is where can you get your this is your pillow where you got your flaps in the back right here you just take it put your pillow on and this pillow has a zipper on it so that is a fillable splat you could put more stuffing in there and this is all there is to it and now you have your pillow you put a book in there and you have a really nice off-book pillow thank you
