hello everyone Muscovy clean today I'm going to be doing a bath video for pashmina getting a bath it is my first bathing video for guinea pigs for how to bathe your guinea pig so I'll try to go through everything step-by-step um so first of all you want to have a good shampoo I have I'm using Burt's Bees it's baby B's shampoo and wash it's tear free which is very important I got it for about 11 bucks and then and if you look at gorgeous skinnies which is a website that is dedicated to guinea pig shampoos they recommend getting shampoos that are free of certain chemicals so if you look up on there it'll give you the specific chemicals that you don't want to have in your shampoos for your guinea pigs and I can't remember what they're called at the moment that's why I'm saying to look them up but uh this is safe because it's tear free it's hypoallergenic and it's created so irritate baby's skin so it's made to be very safe on skin so it's good for them and it has a nice soft scent not strong at all it kind of smells like honey um yeah so if you want to pick that up it's good for your guinea pigs alright so getting started my poor little victim um I don't think I've ever bathed pash before you don't have to bathe them very often because I mean they'll tell you when they need a bath they'll either start to smell which I mean you really don't want to let it get that far but if you kind of start to notice a bit of a year or any smell to them it's time for bath if they're longer here tour I find with even my Abyssinia there are more softer coats you kind of notice that they start to get a bit grungy looking and a bit oily so that's what you want to look for in determining when your guinea pig needs a bath the method I prefer to do is to do it under running water some people say that it is a bit loud for the ears but I just keep it very very minimal the running water I only use it for when I'm washing them off or getting their coat damn so it's really not going to harm them and I keep it away from their ears because you don't want to get their heads wet at all what else so just for starting off we're gonna get a nice temperature so a bit of hot bit of cold you just want it to be nice and lukewarm or on water and just don't put your guinea pig in it until you have actually tested the temperature and you've come to a nice good temperature so I'm going to fit more heat to that so my key takes a while come on there we go so I'd say that's a nice soothing temperature and see how I just have the water lightly running so it's not loud at all and I have a towel here ready for as soon as I've done bathing pashmina I can wrap her in a towel and peeper nice and more alright passion so here's our little victim I haven't given her bath since the summertime so it's been a few months she already knows what's coming so I'm just going to rest her on my arm here as I put her into the water only your back and I'm completely rest in your body on my arm so she feels support the reason I like doing it this way is because I find any pickets less stressed out as opposed if you put them in a shallow little pool of water where they could touch their feet I've had good success with this method so there go her so she's all nice and wet now as you can see so there you go get your tummy wet oh my goodness honey wet what rate I'm going to keep the water running so I have a confident warm temperature there and you're just going to use enough shampoo that you can get a bit of a good set so about the size of a nickel is what you want to put on to your hand if I can get the lid off okay so posh is sitting in the sink here so just a small about that much shampoo it'll work in my hands and massage it into her coat just gently working it in get the bomb and lucky because she's sitting here nicely for me you want to stay away from the ears and eyes so case we heard you don't want to get any in their ears or eyes so just working it in actually get the belly oh you smell lovely so I'll just put your downs so getting bigs like to have all their feet on the ground at most times or to feel much support as possible so that's the best way to give them a bath is to make them feel nice and safe and secure so there as you can see she's got a nice son's friends shampoo and I'm just gonna rinse my hands off and then it's rinse time terrible stuff sweetie oh yeah water a little okay Peter already we've got a good temperature just to get that set though I know sweetheart okay so just take your time with them nobody any place to be bathed so just keep it away from yours oh you got your head when it's okay to get some water on their head you just want to point it and we'll do this belly click on the belly very quick pull the head up rinse rinse rinse and there we have it we have one little ground - looking Pig so you want to make sure everything goes through fur alright so there we go we're done bathing your guinea pig and so there let them shake off a bit first Oh sweetie so she's not too traumatized by this as you can see she's just kind of confused there you go so it's okay to let them shake off of it they do a vest so we're just gonna rinse her out pour little wet pashmina say hi to the camera and before she can even think about shivering we're going to wrap her in a towel just gently ever so gently you're just gonna rub her off so she doesn't catch a chill so there you have it that is how to bathe your guinea pig and there will be second part to this video of how I'm going to put her back in her cage and getting her dry okay thanks everyone for watching stay tuned for part two okay everyone so the next part after bathing um I've let her shake off a bit on her own but I just want to make sure that she's completely dry her as dry as she's gonna get before she goes back in her cage she's a bit shy every most guinea pigs will shiver after bath but so I'm just working the towel on her in circular mome movements so I can ensure that she is dry she doesn't necessarily like it cuz we're having to brush her for a bit backward but I'd rather have to have her endure that a bit then have her to catch a chill later and get sick so it's one or the other and they'll squeak or really tell you if they're really uncomfortable just want to go with your skin hair story with your fur and then go back against the fur a bit all on the bum Oh like that we're purring oh no we don't like that so just listen to your guinea pig and they'll tell you what they they they'll tell you what they don't like so she smells nice and as soon as you put them back in their cage you'll notice they do start to groom themselves right away and this will also help with them getting dry all right so she's a bit damp but I think that's as dry as I'm going to get her at the moment now I'm doing this at night so jeez it's probably about eight o'clock in the evening so before I go to bed in a few hours I'll check her and shirt to make sure that she is completely dry so then if she's not I can drive her even more all right so I just want to make sure that our tummy is dry all right so I'm just gonna take the camera off the tripod now watch hash sorry it's hard to do with one hand in my channel okay now watching patch so as you can see here I have a little portable heater setup and it's just blowing nice warm air into her cage not hot I don't want to blast your with hot air or anything but it's just making sure your cage is a little bit warm now that she's going into it's just kind of like your mom after you've had a bath as a kid when your mom would bring you nice warm towels out of the dryer so same idea and I have just changed this lease in her cage so I'm going to put her in now there you go - this is a bit noisy so I'm not going to leave it on while she's in here because I don't want to make a dress either but as you can see I am now using the yesterday's news litter so we'll see if she uses that this is my first time trying it so my camera would focus you'd be able to see that it's recycled newspaper bits so there we have that so there you go so she's obviously a bit damp still but she's going to start grooming herself now she started also busy I'll checking out her new page every time they shake like that they're helping themselves dry off to these sweetheart so just feeling in here feeling she's got nice warm heat coming from the heater and I just have it on low setting so it's not blasting her Oh silly girl and the fleece will also keep her warm got a bit of wind chin still huh as I said you want to check them after and then giving them a bath you want to check every now and then just to make sure they are completely dry so just by looking at her I can see that she is still wet so um once I'm done making the video we'll probably take her back out and give her another rubdown with the towel but I'll let her groom herself first so we've got a very happy Pig very happy no you're not you're pissed off at me aren't you you hate having beds because you're smelly Big Bash actually was the anything I have that least needed the back my getting me that needs it the most is actually probably the girls Juno and Winnie because what was Pippin stare Abyssinian but they actually have a nice soft coat so they're Abyssinian crossed with smooth hair akk cash Cathy's babies so yeah that's given them a smoother coat so I find I can tell when it gets dirty more easily there you go going your nice cozy warm bed silly hmm so they're going to be next and they'll probably do a video for them just for fun but this is my real how to how to for bathing a guinea pig so the key points here are making sure when you're bathing that you don't get it in your pig's eye eyes or ears or anywhere around their face you don't want to get shampoo anywhere on their head essentially and secondly you want to make sure they're perfectly dry when you put them back in their cage and check on them every now and then to keep note on how well they're drying open this patch here beautiful-looking and third you want to make sure you use a guinea pig safe shampoo or pet safe most pet products pet shampoos they are usually safe for guinea pigs but read the ingredients I'll post a link underneath to the gorgeous guineas website where you can get guinea pig safe shampoo or if you can't afford their shampoos check out a guinea pig safe baby shampoo all right I'm going to take cash back out now and give her another dry thanks for watching everyone until next time right
