How to remove old paint to keep your
brayer clean. Squeaky clean. Hello everyone, I want to show you in this video how to
clean the paint of your brayer. Somebody was asking some time ago in one of the
groups and I have had different ways of doing it. The best way is to wipe it with
a wipe or some other wet napkin immediately right after you're done with
the painting and sometimes in the middle of it so nothing dries on it. Another way
is to let it grow really thick if you don't care that your brayer is going to
be making texture on every time that you paint whatever you're painting, if you
don't care then that's fine. I let it get really really thick and then I cut it
gently with an exacto knife and peel it. I don't have one with me right now but
you can peel it and then you end up with a little square of very colorful
combinations of acrylic paint that you can add somewhere, and the third way
we're going to be actually working on it today which it involves hand sanitizer
or directly alcohol. So I'm going to put a lot of the hand sanitizer in a napkin
and in this as well. It doesn't matter what brand it is as long as it has
alcohol, so you're going to just roll it in there and let it overnight if you
have a ziploc bag or some other plastic that you can wrap around you'll be even
better so that's what I'm going to look for a little plastic that I can wrap
in leave sitting for a while, hours, the longer the better.
You can go straight to the plastic if you want to, I just thought that the
napkin would have absorb enough and just let it sitting in there. I will come back
with the results in the next segment so you will see what happens after a few
hours of just having the wet stuff with alcohol in it. I should test also
with just plain alcohol because I have done another video if you want to
check or in my blog I have done some cleaning of brushes that were dry with
acrylic and it works pretty good that just alcohol leave it in there
overnight and next day or after hours depending on how old the acrylic is it
works better is not going to leave your brush perfect like brand new but it's
perfect for mixed media and you know the leaving some textures and on stuff and it's
still a working a paint brush Alright I will be back and see what happens. it's been a few hours and I'm going to start now brushing It's going very slowly so I'm going to
add a little bit more of alcohol because this part was really, really attached to
the thing to the brayer although this rubber, this red rubber is supposed to be
very good at at not attaching the paint to itself but see the oil, I mean
the alcohol is helping much better now that this is softened by the hand
sanitizer so let's just put a little bit more of the oil ...I mean, I kept saying "oil"
the alcohol in the brayer. Well it goes really easy now. So well I don't want to
make this video too long but you see how if you let it soften with something more
like a gel that will stay longer put together in there without drying,
it makes things a lot easier to remove once you come back with the alcohol. So
there you have it, and then you have to rinse it so just to make sure that the
plastic is completely free of alcohol and it will not alter your painting Okay you can see it's much cleaner I
still have a couple of other little parts to clean but is in much better
shape than before. Don't forget to subscribe over there
