hi this mat with appliance parts pros comm today we'll be showing you how to repair your appliance remember anytime you work on an appliance make sure it's unplugged or the circuit breakers are off so there's no chance of electrocution in this video we're going to show you how to change out the GE microwave coupler it's gonna be a very easy repair and so only take a few minutes to show you how to do it if you already have one of these great if not you can click on the link below or get out appliance parts pros comm when you open up the package you're gonna get the new coupler the coupler sits on the turntable motor shaft and actually drives the cooking tray the main reason to be changing it out is if it's cracked or damaged and your tray isn't rotating in order to get to the part all you'll have to do is get underneath the microwave since this is an over-the-counter type all you have to do is reach underneath it ours isn't mounted to a cabinet so we're gonna turn it on its back so you guys can see it at home we have to take off the bottom of the microwave we're gonna open up the microwave door and remove the glass tray and the support ring so we can work on it we're gonna use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws now the we have all the screws out we can lower the panel be careful it doesn't fall out and we have to disconnect this wire harness it goes to the light bulbs down plug the wire all you have to do is squeeze each side to release the locks and disconnect it another way of the wire harness disconnected we can set this lower panel aside so we can change the part now the way at the bottom off we can pull the turntable motor out there's a locking tab on the side of the coupler that locks it in place so you can't just pull it out you actually have to take this motor out so you can remove it we're not gonna disconnect the wires we're just gonna very carefully let it hang by the wiring harness until we put it back in now we can open up the door so we can reach in and pull out the old coupler here's the old coupler next to the new one if you already have one of these great if not you can get it out appliance parts pros comm here's the locking tab on the shaft of the coupler that's what holds it in and that's why you had to take the whole motor out to change it when we put the new one in you want to make sure that when you reach in and drop it in the hole then you turn it so the flat on the shaft lines up with the flat on the motor and you can put the motor back in with no problems now we can put the motor back in remember we need to turn the coupler to line it up so it slides on once you have it pushed on and in place we can put one of the screws back in to hold the motor in place once we have one of the screws in to hold the motor in place we're gonna close the microwave door just so it's out of the way and then we can put the other screw back in another way the part installed we can put the bottom back on the microwave all you have to do is set it on to the frame and make sure that it sits right here so you can see these little pieces of the frame then we can lift it up a little bit so we can reconnect the wire harness for the light sockets you can only go one way so all you have to do is push it together so it locks in place and lift the panel up and use our phillips screwdriver to put the screws back in another way of the part installed we can open up the microwave and reinstall the support ring and the glass tray now that we put those parts back in we can close the microwave door plug it back in and reset the clock thanks for joining us for another successful repair brought to you by appliance parts pros comm check out our other repair videos on our site Facebook and YouTube you
