hi I'm Jennifer from shabby fabrics this is part 4 of our Valentine series where we'll be covering how to make the treat bag now this is the simplest project and it's so cute um you know if you're going to give someone candy why not put in a cute little bag now we have lots of options for shabby shapes of course for Valentine's the hearts make sense um little bags we're using the small valentine hearts that's what's featured here those are available on the website but as you can see there's little snowmen there's shamrocks there's gingerbread people there's everything you could think of so think beyond Valentine's Day baby first and other special events where you might want to give some treats and have a cute little bag but for Kate today let's work with a small valentine heart um we just chose a four by five piece of fabric two of those speak for a small bag we didn't want anything too terribly huge but you can make this bag any size you want it so again today we just chose four by five we did the two layers right sides together we sewed around that and use our paint pinking blade here I like that because it doesn't fray if you just cut that with a straight rotary cutter over time that will fray and probably actually open up on you so that's why I like to use the pink pinking blade if I'm not going to be doubling the edge under um for the even cuteness cute actor why not use some shabby shapes if you are going to use the shabby shapes you can either put that on to one of the sides of the fabric you can even put hearts on both sides of course iron that down and stitch around if you wanted to or you can wait turn the bag to the right side right side out then decide where you want to place that heart make sure it's good and centered if you do turn the bag through and then apply the shabby shape just know at that point you're not going to be stitching it down so if you really want to have it stitched down you think you're going to use that bag a lot be sure to do that before you stitch the bag together but for now I don't think I'm going to be using these bags very often so I'm just going to iron that down and if you're not using something very often you really don't need to stitch it down it's only when they're going to be washing something you're using it frequently that you need to do that again to reduce the frame I recommend that you use the pinking blade go ahead and use your small ruler then just pink the top and then that way it's not going to be fraying simply grab yourself a pretty piece of ribbon and stuff it with your treats and tie it with a bow so I hope you've enjoyed the Valentine series available from shabby fabrics
