okay it is time to amend this soil right here this is a mostly clay soil this is where I had a raised bed for about two years and I moved it because it's getting too much shade for instance right now it's about 2:30 in the afternoon and the shade has just hit it so I'd like to put something that likes a little bit of afternoon shade here which will be like a ginger plant it's called galangal and it's tae Jin jure so I took the bed that was here was my son's raised bed and I moved it over there because he likes to go a lot of Sun loving plants and that's a better spot for him okay so we are going to amend the soil I'm going to use this little tiller here it's perfect for this kind of job I have actually done a review on this before I'll include a link here if you'd like to see exactly a little bit more information about it exactly how I use it all right so I'm sure you'll hear when I'm going to amend this with okay so I picked up a couple of different things to break up this clay soil the main thing you want to use is I think you pronounce it gypsum okay that's one bag there it should cover about 30 square feet this area here is about 20 square feet I'm gonna go ahead and use the whole bag and then I have this here too it's another soil conditioner called clay breaker so I think I'll get this loosened up pretty well let's go ahead and take a look at the soil itself and see what it looks like down in there now in the middle you may think well that looks pretty healthy but that was a little bit the soil that was in the raised bed I dumped it back over here I left it here so and this had weed block down here for about two years so it's very compact okay so the soil is not quite as bad as I thought it would be see how nicely it came together there okay I'm just going to pull out about a third of a bag okay now I'm just gonna smooth it out and I'll add some nutrition to it when I go to plant the ginger in here okay hopefully has helped you and thanks so much for watching
