I won and again I've been asked about changing a main stopcock another you've got trouble getting water off sometimes and when they're they're really jammed up and won't move you've got no recourse except to renew the actual stock I've got a video on there on easing a tap to try and free but sometimes it doesn't always work and in the end you've just got new domains cook now lawyer it might be Alain stock up under your sink it may be a stock elsewhere the way I'm going to show you today is one elsewhere this one is in my earring cupboard and it's one that feeds the main roof tank and it's been solid for modern bother for doing it but I figured maybe they'd be a good time to renew it it looks quite new looking but funny enough it's is called solid this wagons through the window you don't use them you don't ever give them a turn you know because a lot of times people forget they just see a stock never movie and once you don't touch it and leave it never will go you'll be solid and that's kind of what's happened to this one in the cupboard here it's just gone solid where it's never been used we looked only up sighs about five years old but there you go that's one of those things I know I'm going to take you to prove renewing this particular one which is in my earring cupboard you say yours might be under leasing but it's the same thing it's the same job so we're taking it for without further ado so if you like chocolate is finding here I've got my torch on in there yes it looks quite nourish but in actual fact he's gone solid so it's time to get it renewed now the first thing to do is a obviously turn you off whatever you do don't try and do it live get outside out in front path or just inside your garden there will be a stopcock box just flip it up and turn it off I've got a video on turning the water off down while those holes if you're not sure what they look like and how to do them I've got one I'll connect you to for that but turning the water off once it's off ugly kitchen cold tap and let make sure it's off then you'll see there know what was coming out of it you know it's off and you're safe to carry on and do the job alright so why'd you got to that stage then we now go to I'm doing a stock crack and I'll show you that now okay tools I like to use for this job is a pair of footprints and a small spanner um when I'm doing if you try just to turn it light there you'll find the whole thing will probably twist round and the same if you try and do the bottoms it kind of needs holding against with another tool which is a pair of footprints and put them on there like so to hold with gains and then get my other spanner and put it on the nut on the top and give it a push and it'll go like that see it because you're holding against it won't move off then that's got the top nut loose don't worry if there's any dead water I've got a little tail there just an old one to catch any water comes out there will be a little bit dead water especially if you're working on the kitchen sink one under there the main stock coat because it's right at the bottom level of the house you will get clean with you but don't worry about it I need the deep water that's in the pipe they save again put your grip on there get the spanner underneath and put it round time so that one's gone once you've got it to that stage you'll find your body can move it then like so and undo your nuts thanks it on do your top one and undo what one may you should bear get clear now what your file is probably tightly wedged in if you've got it gone up to another fitting it's not any movement or broom to pull the pipe apart you might have to undo another fitting like up there to lift it all out if it's under a sink and you find that pipe goes up to your tap you may have to undo the swivel of your tap pulled it out first to give you room to lift it clear I don't know about this one but we're going to find it I think this one's got plenty of room movement below because it goes under the floor so I think after the cord is clear there off of Paul you clear and it's dropped out all right so it's just that's the only after we probably that point there where you need to get the tap clear of the pipe and as I say if it goes up to a fixed point here say to a kitchen tap you will have to undo the swivel and pull it clear so you've got enough room to leave that pipe out and get your stub core clear right so let's it out now next bit is a fitting a new one that next writing so here we have our new tap and now the lucky thing with stopcocks is really good is that most times these nuts fit you haven't got to take the Oliver nut off the fitting a lot of times they will actually fit so you can try it by pushing a pipe over and seeing if it will do up get it on and see if it would do up now I know this one will because I recognize the nuts being a plumber I've done it a thousand times I know that will do up now if they don't and you got to change these nuts as well then you will have to tap them off the spanner just slightly tap them down till they come off alright they will come off assignment bottom one up to get that one off so you got your nut nah leave off the pipe I mean I know these ones will fit so I'll just get a new one for that top one click write me up get on and get your new olive on and push you on ok so it's the same with bottom one if the nuts don't fear so luckily these days they're all pretty much Universal and do fear so you haven't got too much messing about next thing to do before you go doing the thing up bear which you can do about any joint you're on I would advise using some kind of joining and I like plum blue it's pretty good and get that round the mountain Ollie first okay just round like so and you guarantee then you won't get any leaks if you do it dry it can give you a leak I don't know it always seems to be the same when you do it dry I was gonna a leak the matter I might write you try and do it so it's always better it's a little bit of jointing compound like that okay so we're at the stage now where we're going to get a stopcock on if you can stop push a pipe out the way like just showed you there you can get that one down now I can push mine down and up because I've got plenty of room pretty early room to get it on once is up there just get your nut started do it me a fingers till you can't stop same with a bottom one do it up until it won't stop that's it till it can't turn anymore I should say okay let's see it when you're happy with a position of it we have it there so I can easy turn it or you can have it round because I'm more going like there sir perhaps that would be better for me from an airing cupboard point of view once you happy William position all you got to do is hold it we fingers like that in your hand in position there's only really now to have to lock it on with footprints you can jump one-handed now but the top that unites goes clockwise like this and we can give it a little pinch you don't need to go too mad of that is probably printed you can fill it script it now same in the bottom one and do make sure your pipes are still in there solid they haven't dropped out or anything like that make sure they still wedding near that one I know is because it's 14 and in the same again up the bottom give it good tighten we have but no no more than that a bit more fully one it's just a fraction more and that's it I can feel that it now I've got tablets working again that's better look the other one up to right will actually will rough seized up and that was it now I can turn the water off to my roof tank now if ever I need to I've got any problem got there I know I can lead the magnetron but the kitchen and just isolate the tank or on its own this little leg that it goes up to here by the way little valve goes to my am outside tap but anyway that's it that's the job really changing the main stop cop so hope it wasn't too bad for you I know it's easy for me been doing it for years but if you fancy tape in that job or and you'll save yourself a lot of money on part ok well that's it you know the place to go from our videos keep the fight guys Jarett and three free.com thanks very much work it bye bye
