Please explain how to spot #gold plated #jewelry

hey y'all back with another video friend of mine asked me how he can tell if he has plated gold a real gold so I thought I'd do a little video for you guys real quick I'll just take some junk gold here some little earrings okay give you guys an idea here if you got a lot of gold a bunch of pieces this time it can get time-consuming or you want to you know make a deal with someone and you got 20 or 30 pieces to check all kind of little stuff and whatever it's going to take some time so I'm gonna make it give you guys a few hints real quick few tips these earrings for example always check the posts right away if the posts bend really easily see how easily the manipulated that is I can bend it around the other posts and the fake you know fake metals and stuff they almost hurt your fingers to be honest they don't they don't want to move around okay and these are these are soft I can bend these posts really good so that's a real be an indicator to me that that's gold also these things are screw off so if these things are threaded these posts which these are oops I almost lost the ball there then that's a real good indicator to that someone took the time to thread those they don't want you to lose this okay so it's it's it's a good indicator it's gold always always use your acids anyways but you you know you want to cut out a bunch of stuff that you know ain't gold so if you got a big pile in front of you you just you know you can go through red wave if that post doesn't Bend easy another thing too on the yellow gold so the yellow gold face if they wear in the back from wear-and-tear and they're a different color than in the front because gold doesn't you know 14 karat gold it's going to be yellow gold it's gonna be yellow all the way through it isn't just going to you know where the color off it's you know what I'm saying there's no other color to wear it to it's the same colors just consistency all the way through so if there's any you know if it's white in the back here a separate - totally gold 2-tone jewelry that is but it's a real good indicator okay you know it's worn off that color you know that that's just plated gold but these Bend really easy they're threaded they're all yellow all the way through so I can already you know I'm not gonna thought any of these I'm gonna check them to steel but I can already pretty much tell you that they are they are gold okay I would guess 10 because these aren't diamonds there's turk Onias people don't really generally put diamonds in 10 karat gold and they don't generally put very cheap stones in 14 sometimes church even less than 18 what does happen also on chains that's the same the part that wears the most would be the inner link so check inside the links you know this piece here should be the same all the way through this little piece sometimes you'll get links that are different colors you know sometimes this link will be different color than this okay but this piece needs to be consistent so like if this is a different color I'm not going to compare it to it obviously but the very same piece if you look inside the links there should be no discoloration if the colors war and often that's a good indicator that it's sorry plated gold another way always is check with a loop if you got a loop check a jeweler's loupe to you know see if it's stamped of course that can be faked but you know just check everything check it with your loop check it with your asses than that but if you want to quickly go through it you can you can also take a magnet over at anything that sticks to a magnetism isn't going to be gold okay so take a magnet over anything sticks to it like sometimes the clasps will the spring inside the class sorry the spring inside the class will stick to sort of pull a little bit right there just there but that's it most of the time they'll be all gold or the thing will stick like crazy the magnet it won't be gold okay so you pull all that junk out right on the red on the hop then to go through these things start bending these check and see if there ii see if they're threaded that kind of stuff if they're worn in color checks check inside the inner links to see if they're worn in color that kind of stuff and that'll save you a ton of time okay guys thanks for tuning in I'm trying to keep these videos fun and short please subscribe thanks
