Please explain how to use a neti pot (ayurveda)

hi my name is that Kiana and I want to talk to you today about the amazing benefit of using a neti pot the tradition of neti comes from Ayurveda which means science of light it's the traditional system of health and well-being that stems from India and it's over 5000 years old I'm an Ayurvedic practitioner and I've personally found that using the neti pot on a daily basis is amazing for just bringing a greater vitality and energy and clarity in my life and in my client I had a client who had chronic sinusitis and she used the neti pot every day she hadn't been able to breathe through her nose she said for 10 years and after using the neti pot regularly she was finally able to breathe through her notes again and she was so grateful she was actually brought to tears so something so that seems so simple can have really profound benefit so let me show you how to do it what you do is you take your neti pot and they come in all different shapes and sizes this is a big copper one so you can get smaller ones made of porcelain at some pharmacies and you can get one sort of nato's Oh what is that called and I can't remember that in anyway all different shapes and sizes I'd avoid plastic because you don't want to put hot liquids in the plastic so what you want to do is take some good water and when I say good water I mean spring water some kind of water that has not come out of your tap it isn't full of any sort of chemicals or chlorine so this is good water it comes from the Wakefield spring I live in Ottawa and I'm very fortunate to the 25 minute drive away from the wonderful Pierce spring so I've heated this water up and what I'm going to do is I'm going to pour some of it into my neti pot and then I'm going to take a quarter of a teaspoon of sea salt make sure not to use iodized table salt because it's not good for your body and it's not good for your nose so I'm pouring a quarter of a teaspoon of pink Himalayan sea salt is what I'm using today into my neti pot and then I'm going to stir it put a spoon to dissolve it and if I just put hot water in here I don't want to put that up my network so I have some room temperature water that I'm going to use to top up my neti pot and cool down that liquid so that it's a nice temperature to go up my notes from stir it a little bit more and then you want to be in front of your sink or a bowl and you'll be standing with your neti pot in whichever hand you're going to start with and you're going to take your non-dominant hand or your other hand that you're not using put it behind your back as a small of your back that's just going to provide a little bit of support and then you're going to bring the neti pot up to your nostril tip your head to the side keeping your chin pointing up great a little bit because you don't want that liquid to go too forcefully into your sinuses because that will hurt especially if you have some real blockage up there and then you're going to pour that liquid through and it's going to come out the other nostril now depending on how blocked up you her it might just drip or you might not see anything come through that's okay don't worry that's totally adorable just be patient because it's gonna take time for to submit it it also comes down into your throat so you might just have to spit it takes time for that salt water to dissolve the mucus if you've got a lot in there and start flowing through so just again be patient then when you repeat it half the bottle of water half the neti pot of water on one side you're going to do five words pitch I just get rid of that excess liquid and any goop from your nose and don't worry this isn't a pretty treatment by any means but the benefits are so great that you're not going to care about the mess I can guarantee you then you're going to repeat on the other side same stance hand is behind your back palm facing outward giving a little support to your lower back your feet are about hip-width apart you're bringing the neti pot up to your other nostril tipping your head to the side keeping your chin pointing up a little bit and allowing that water to just flow right through just like this or at its own pace I happen to be clear today I lived again if I were in a pinch if you need to spit do so and at this point we're gonna blow our nose but we're not going to do it just the traditional way because that can be a bit forceful and pours water up into the ear canal and if it gets stuck up there it could cause an infection not a good scene so what we're gonna do is we're going to take our tissue put it up to your nose and you're gonna tilt your head from side to side while you blow air out so like this then we're gonna check her nostrils and if it's clear if you don't have a lot of that sort of smelly watery sound then you're done now just to let you know you might think you're done and then 15 minutes later you bend over to pick something up off the floor and suddenly this gosh of water pours out your nose don't worry that's totally normal just keep a bit of tissue in your pocket or up your sleeve just in case so at this point I'm done using the neti I can actually breathe up into my note nasal passages feel that stimulation and that hits my brain and enlivens me and the next thing I'm going to do is apply a little bit of oil up my nostrils this bottle is a bit oily now so it's hard to see but it's actually from Banyan botanicals in the US they have wonderful products and this is their nasiha na sy8 oil it's got herbes in it it's got some eucalyptus and it's really soothing to the nasal passages it helps to open up - and any sort of blockages or but the main thing that it's gonna do is it's gonna help to line the nasal passages and just protect them from any irritants that want to get up there so it's like your defence against allergens and anybody who wants to invade so I'm just gonna leave back and apply a couple of jobs to each nostril and just inhale it in and rub it around a little bit in there and you're protected it's going to feel really good really fresh and you're ready for your day it's a great practice to do at the beginning of your day and to repeat again before you go to bed if you if you need to do so if you really condensed it if you want any more information about neti pots the practice of nastya which is the nasal clearing practice and Ayurveda
